Crosscurrents

I was proud to present ‘Crosscurrents’ at SCT Creative House’s open event.

The dhows and naval ships meet on shared waters, they move at the same pace and are framed by a horizon that blends elements of both landscapes. The piece leverages augmented reality animation to invite viewers to reflect on the enduring spirit of exploration. Do you see naval cannons or Bahraini pearls encircling my boat? The context of your life could inform your answer.

I am always trying to come up with ways to best present what I do beyond a screen. I am an animator, but sometimes that needs to extend into the physical realm.

This piece was a mixture of new technical skills and history, merging the lateen sails of my future home in Bahrain with the bold ships that I have come to know after almost nine years living by the sea in Portsmouth, the city that adopted me.
